Freydell Espinoza Urbina

Doctoral Student

I’m Freydell Espinoza, a first year PhD student in the Laboratory for Rehabilitation Neuroscience. I graduated from Florida State University with a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering, and a special focus in Imaging and Signals processing. Throughout my senior year as an undergraduate student, I worked on multiple image processing projects, including MRI analysis. As a result, I became fascinated by the study of physiological signals and how they can be used to assess health conditions.

Research Interests
  • Implementation of machine learning algorithms to diagnose corticobasal degeneration using diffusion MRI scans.
  • Optimizing neurodegenerative disorder diagnosis by utilizing six diffusion-encoding directions, aiming to reduce scan time while maintaining high diagnostic accuracy.
